The team at The Club at Flying Horse is committed to providing an exceptional experience to its members. This talented group combines experience in hospitality, private club management, culinary arts, health & fitness and golf and tennis operations. They have collectively worked at famous resorts, restaurants and clubs throughout the country. Professional experience, formal education, and the desire to share the passion of Flying Horse are the motivations behind the team that welcomes you to The Club at Flying Horse.


Fredo Killing
Club Managing Director

Fredo Killing brings 29 years of golf and club management and hospitality experience to his position as Managing Director of The Club at Flying Horse.

More than 20 of those years have been managing clubs and resorts in the Colorado Springs area.

Originally from Santiago, Chile, Killing was educated in South America and Europe before heading to the United States. He also spent time in management at Hotel Portillo, Chile which, because of its climate, hosted ski teams from around the world.

He has overseen major renovations, new construction and redesign efforts at some of Colorado Springs’ most famous landmark resorts. His enthusiasm carries over into several volunteer and community efforts.


Wendy McHenry
Membership Director

Wendy McHenry has more than two decades of experience in hospitality and membership service.

She spent nearly 20 years at Cheyenne Mountain Resort. She was a member of the Opening Team for the Resort and played a significant role in the ongoing development and success of the property, as well as the adjoining Country Club of Colorado. She was also a member of the Executive Committee.

Her experience in the hospitality industry includes leadership roles in the areas of Food and Beverage, Sales and Marketing, Conference Planning and Operations.


Dan Hawkins
Golf Course Superintendent

Dan Hawkins comes to Flying Horse from The Ridge at Castle Pines North, another Tom Weiskopf course.

Hawkins worked at The Ridge since its inception in 1996, having most recently served as the superintendent.

Prior to that, he worked at the Canterberry Golf Course in Parker, and the Ptarmigan Golf and Country Club in Windsor, Colorado.

Prior to beginning his work in golf course management, Dan had a career with Martin Marietta as a software development engineer. He spent 10-plus years working closely with defense and other federal clients.

His passion for the outdoors led him to Colorado State University where he went back to school and completed a B.S. in Landscape Horticulture in 1995.


Glenn Wallace
Head Golf Professional

Glenn Wallace is from the Atlanta area where he attended the University of Georgia. After graduating, he moved to Colorado in 1997, and went to work for Castle Pines Golf Club. While there, he worked the annual PGA Tour, The INTERNATIONAL, and for the past four years, served as the first assistant golf professional responsible for overseeing both the golf shop and outside service operations. He was responsible for the operation and management of all tournaments and outings hosted by the club.

While at Castle Pines, Wallace also worked seasonal pro positions at other golf facilities including Gainey Ranch Golf Club and Desert Highlands Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Cherry Hills Country Club in Denver.


Richard Beard
Head Tennis Professional

The Club at Flying Horse has named Richard Beard as the Head Tennis Professional to lead the tennis program at Flying Horse.

Richard’s goal is to provide a tennis program at Flying Horse that will be unmatched for adults as well as children. After living in Japan, Germany, and Italy, Richard moved to Colorado where he trained with Dennis Ralston at The Broadmoor and attended the University of Colorado. After graduating, Richard played the professional circuit and traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Africa, and the South Pacific. During most of college and while playing the circuit, he held a position at The Broadmoor while becoming United States Professional Tennis Association certified. Prior to joining the team Flying Horse, Richard was the Head Tennis Professional at The Broadmoor. Richard incorporates his philosophy of “having fun and learning” with a natural teaching style in all hi s programs.


Carol Minch
Spa Director

The Club at Flying Horse has named Carol Minch as Spa Director. With professional experience as a medical laboratory technician, owner/operator of Rocky Mountain Laboratories, and manager of several well-known spas (including the Garden of the Gods Club Spa and The Spa at Cache Creek Casino and Resort), Carol was a natural choice to head The Spa at Flying Horse.

Carol’s deep interest and concern for health and well being–not to mention her acumen for customer service and strong background in business management–provides an exceptional spa experience for everyone in the family. Carol’s vision is that of health and relaxation, where Members indulge in relaxation massages, romantic couples massages and medical massages. Facials will consist of local flower essences and skincare products that are natural and organic, as well as products that treat your skin with vitamins and nutrients. The Spa will work in coordination with physical therapists, fitness trainers and physicians. Nail care services and day packages are also offered to further enhance the Spa experience. “I feel very much at home working in a spa,” says Carol, “I love the process of creative development and I'm looking forward to presenting our new spa to Colorado Springs.” 
Alec Schrader
Executive Chef

Alec came to The Club at Flying Horse from Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House, where he had served as Executive Chef since 2002. Alec began cooking at the age of 16. In 1992, after finishing his Bachelors degree in graphic design, he moved to Chicago where he attended culinary school at the Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago. Following culinary school,  he worked for notable chefs in Chicago including; Jean Joho, Michael Kornick, and Thierry Tritsch, and worked at Café Absinthe, Green Dolphin Street, Brasserie Jo, Marché, and Bistrot Zinc. In 1999, Alec moved to Colorado to serve as Chef de Cuisine at the Five Star Five Diamond, Broadmoor Resort. In 2002, he moved to Denver and took over as Executive Chef at Del Frisco’s. Alec has received many awards including the Dirona award, AAA Five Diamond award, Mobile Five star award, the Zagat award, and numerous others from national and local publications. 


Lori Briggs
Athletic Director

Lori Briggs is just the person you want to see for personal training tips, diet plans and exercises programs for any fitness level. Lori can tailor a program specific to your goals and be there to help and encourage you to achieve them.
 
She comes to us with 25 years of experience as a Jazzercise instructor, college soccer player, fitness expert and personal trainer for Bally’s. Lori has successfully competed in bodybuilding and figure competitions beating women half her age! We won’t reveal her age but she is a mother of two and has also coached volleyball, basketball and track in addition to teaching business classes and marketing in Colorado Springs high schools for 13 years. She has excelled in the business world by recruiting and licensing foster homes for Youth Ventures Child Placement Agency and was the catalyst for a new adoption program. 
 
Lori loves and lives fitness and exercise. She has backpacked and camped in much of the remote terrain of her native Colorado. Ask her for advice and don’t be surprised if she joins you for a bike ride or hike up Pikes Peak!
