Colton Wernet was born in CA but moved to Colorado Springs 17 years ago. He loves traveling and has lived/been to Hawaii, Lake Tahoe, LA, Breckenridge and Japan. Colton started at Flying Horse in 2011 as a valet, he took time off to travel and luckily came back to us at the beginning of the year! You might have seen him in The Tack Room but now you will see his smiling face driving into The Club. When he is not working in The Gatehouse, Colton loves to snowboard, run, skateboard and surf. He is finishing his degree at UCCS as well, make sure you congratulate him when you pass by!

Say hello to our new Food & Beverage Service Manager, we cannot wait for her to start! "My name is Kari Ottaviano. As a kid, I started out with a flair for food and cooking. I can blame it on my Italian roots where meals were occasions and meant to be treasured. Of course, this led to an early start in restaurants as soon as I could pour a glass of wine and serve it. Since then, I have progressed and been lucky enough to run restaurants and hotel programs in 7 states. Colorado being my favorite, naturally. I hope to bring an unceasing passion for food and beverage to this new position and am so excited to be here. Please feel free to ask me anything. However, if the subject of my dog comes up, be prepared for pictures and gushing. Thanks so much for welcoming me into your community. I look forward to getting to know you."

Emily Smith works at The Athletic Club front desk and is such a joy to both employees and members. She was born in Ohio and lived overseas for a few years. When her father retired from the Air Force her family moved to Colorado Springs to be close to her mother’s family. She has been living in Colorado for the past 17 years and loving every minute of it. She comes from a large family, she is the oldest of 13! We have had the pleasure of Emily being an employee here for four years. In her free time, she loves to read, hang out with friends, go for walks & playing pranks on her roommates. Emily is an avid coffee drinker, loves Harry Potter (who doesn’t) and is terrified of sharks! Make sure you say hello, she will absolutely brighten up your day!
