PGA HOPE Program

The PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) program introduces and teaches golf to Veterans and Active Duty Military to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being. Led by PGA of America Golf Professionals, the program is inclusive of a developmental 6-8 week curriculum. All programs are provided at no cost to all participating Veterans. PGA HOPE is on a mission unlike any other - to change and save Veterans’ and Active Duty Military Service Members’ lives through the power of golf.

One of our very own employees, Mack Borowicz had the opportunity to work with some of our patriots and receive the 2025 Hope Hero Award. Assisting Mack with the PGA Hope Program at Flying Horse North were Kyle Colledge and Greg Colosey, who are both Army veterans and aspiring PGA Professionals. Read through the following pages to learn more about Mack and other participants’ experiences.

From Mack, Head Golf Pro - Flying Horse North

I was inspired to get involved with PGA HOPE after hearing how profoundly it has impacted both participants and the PGA Professionals who serve alongside them. In a community with so many veterans, active-duty service members, and military families, this felt like a meaningful way to give back through the game I love. Week after week, I watch golf become more than a sport—it’s a safe place to breathe, connect, and rebuild confidence. Listening to participants share what they’re navigating, then helping them find small wins on the range or course, has been both humbling and energizing. Those moments when a great shot lands, a new skill clicks, or a laugh breaks through a tough day remind me why this work matters. The bonds formed—with us and with each other—often grow into lasting friendships, and seeing that community take shape has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional career.

PGA Hope Program Testimonial

“PGA Hope for me at the Flying Horse Course was the perfect time for me as it was a stress-reliever from my everyday life. The instructors were courteous and knowledgeable and helped my game. In February of this year my wife was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer which dramatically changed our everyday life. She encouraged me to take the game back up after 20 years as a way of coping with the stress of our new lifestyle due to her treatments and abrupt changes.

The PGA Hope course fit me perfectly with the lessons at the Flying Horse North because they were on Tuesday evening, 2 days before her chemo treatments and helped me relax as she dealt with the treatments and I took care of the everyday chores. Yes, believe it or not, a game that is so frustrating helped me deal with life issues, and I couldn’t have asked for two better teachers than those at Flying Horse. Yes, I learned a lot as I’m no longer worried about being in the bunker as my bunker game has gone from “not so good”, to getting out and on the green every time. Before, I was playing, bunker to opposite fairway to the green, wasting several shots. Not anymore! I drive straighter, and now, with their expertise, I have learned how to shape the ball a little. These things I could not have ever imagined doing if it were not for PGA Hope and Flying Horse. I was fortunate enough to play in a league game on every Wednesday. After starting the lessons, my drives were the ones used by the team. This wouldn’t have happened without their expert coaching. Thanks for your support, and remember this: the course helps in more ways than can be imagined.” - Mark
